The Rochester Guitar Duo

The Rochester Guitar Duo is a recently formed ensemble consisting of Timothy Shannon and Dennis Repino. The duo performs music both written and arranged for two guitars, including music from Ireland, France, Spain, and the Renaissance.  The ensemble’s first performance was successful and was met with much public acclaim.

Timothy Shannon

Guitarist Timothy Shannon currently teaches at Roberts Wesleyan College and the Hochstein Music School, both located in Rochester, NY. Besides teaching, Dr. Shannon has performed as a soloist and chamber musician, including his most recent work with the Rochester Guitar Duo. He received his Bachelor of Professional Studies in Guitar Performance from S.U.N.Y. Empire State College where he integrated coursework from Nazareth College and the Eastman School of Music. Dr. Shannon completed his Masters of Music Performance from the State University of New York at Buffalo where he studied with Joanne Castellani of the Castellani - Andriaccio Duo. In 2009, Tim completed his doctoral studies at the Eastman School under the direction of Nicholas Goluses. Dr. Shannon also studied with Matthew Ardizzone, Timothy Schmidt, and Rick Falkenstein, as well as taken master classes with Christopher Parkening, Raphaella Smits, Edward Flower, Sharon Isbin, and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.

Dennis Repino

Classical Guitarist Dennis Repino studied at Fredonia University where he earned both the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees under the direction of Professor James Piorkowski. Dennis currently holds a scholarship as a doctoral student under Nicholas Goluses at the Eastman School of Music. Mr. Repino is an award-wining guitarist who received the Performer’s Certificate as well as the grand prize of the first Fredonia Guitar Competition of 2003. Dennis has performed throughout Western New York and Pennsylvania, appearing as a soloist and in ensemble. Mr. Repino participated in master classes with Christopher Parkening, Paul Galbraith, Martha Masters, Risa Carlson, Rodney Stucky, Eduardo Fernandez, David Tannebaum, and the Brazilian Guitar Quartet. As an instructor, Dennis teaches guitar at Finger Lakes Community College and Mobile Music, both located in Canandaigua, NY. As a published composer and recording artist, Mr. Repino wrote music for the Fredonia American Spirit concert series and is currently finishing his second compact disc of original works for solo guitar.
