The Rochester Guitar Duo has two upcoming recitals this month. On Friday, April 9, Dennis and Tim will be performing at the Harmony House in Webster, NY at 8 PM. The concert, which is being presented by the Rochester Guitar Club, will also feature the guitarists George Collichio and Loren Barrigar. A week later, on Friday, April 16, at 11 AM, the Rochester Guitar Duo will be performing a recital at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY.1/25/2010
The New Year has begun and Dennis has been busy! This past December, he completed his doctoral coursework at Eastman and now is preparing for the final comprehensive exams. During the spring semester, Dennis will be teaching at F.L.C.C. while he works on his second solo CD, which should be finished by the summer (audio samples are coming soon). The Rochester Guitar Duo is preparing for upcoming recitals, including performances in April for the Rochester Guitar Club and Roberts Wesleyan College. Please stay tuned for more details.9/17/2009
Dennis has just accepted a teaching position at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY. Dennis begins his duties this week, which include teaching private applied classical guitar lessons.9/1/2009
Fall classes have started once again and Dennis is ready to meet the challenge of his final semester of coursework at the Eastman School of Music. During the semester, Dennis will be assisting with Freshman Colloquium while he prepares for his final doctoral lecture recital. The lecture, which will be given later in the semester, will present an analysis and historical study of Benjamin Britten’s landmark 20th-century composition, Nocturnal, Op. 70, for Guitar. In his spare time, Dennis is continuing to compose for and record his second CD and he has begun rehearsing with the Rochester Guitar Duo, which plans to present recitals next spring.5/3/2009
Today is Dennis’ second doctoral recital at the Eastman School of Music. Works by Federico Moreno-Torroba, Augustin Barrios, Leo Brouwer, Peter Sculthorpe, and Roland Dyens will be presented, along with an original work by Mr. Repino. The recital begins at 1:30 P.M. in Kilbourn Hall, Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY.2/15/2009
The Guitar Foundation of America’s journal Soundboard has just published two of Dennis’ compositions. The pieces, which are titled “Astor’s Tango” and “Park Avenue Waltz,” appear in Soundboard Vol. XXXV, No.1, 2009, on pages 66-71. The two works were composed in 2008 and are expected to be recorded on Dennis’ second compact disc, which should be finished in 2010.1/12/2009
The New Year has begun and classes have resumed at Eastman. This semester, Dennis will be teaching guitar pedagogy and classical guitar lessons while he prepares for his second doctoral recital. On January 31, 2009, Mr. Repino will be performing some of his original compositions at the “Art of the Guitar Series-Composer’s Alive!” festival, held at the Fredonia University School of Music in Fredonia, NY. The recital is scheduled at 8 P.M. in the Juliet J. Rosch Recital Hall. Hope to see you there!4/1/2008
This month, Dennis Repino will present his first doctoral recital at the Eastman School of Music. The recital will be held on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall and will feature solo works by Manuel de Falla, Mauro Giuliani, and Lennox Berkeley, as well as guitar duo music by Enrique Granados and de Falla (performed by the Rochester Guitar Duo featuring Timothy Shannon). The recital will conclude with a performance of Heitor Villa-Lobos' Concerto for Guitar and Small Orchestra, assisted by pianist Liz Avery.
